Mosaic Exhibit Ra’anana 2011
It’s a busy time of year but it’s worthwhile if u can to check out the latest Mosaic Exhibit in Park Ra’anana til Oct. 1st.
It’s interesting to see mosaics gravitating in Israel towards many 3D objects and statues. This woman is just an amazing example…not only is the sculpture something exceptional and realistic in and of itself but the mosaic itself is highly detailed utilizing hand made ceramic pieces. Another amazing 3D sculpture gives a new anatomical view of pregnancy, but I’m sorry that photo got erased so you’ll have to see it for yourself if u can go to the exhibit.
I love it when artists mix it up and add unexpected elements…like this mosaic I call “New York, New York” which actually incorporates 3d elements like metal and wire, as well as clear glass for detailed pictures and the background effect using the texture and color of the colored glass works so well.
There were more than a few paintings with only some sections mosaicked within an actually painting.
Another technique I haven’t seen used before is crushed glass as a tool to gain texture…a little bit sharp but very cool.
Last but not least I loved these bicycles with the abstract background. The more you look the more you see. I love it when hidden things suddenly pop out at you!
