What's Happening @ CreativeCrafts
So many new faces
and returning artists at Creative Crafts this year, it’s very exciting!
I wanted to create a
sort of newsletter to keep you updated with “What’s Been Happening.”
I try hard to take
pictures of projects, both finished and during the process, but b’h we are so
busy creating that doesn't always happen.
We
managed to squeeze in a couple of classes before the chaggim; some of the projects that we completed in the
Young Artists classes were decoupaged Etrog boxes, glass painted
honey jars,
wire wrapped bracelets and earrings and many cool and new duct tape projects, including pendants, belts and even earrings were amoung some of the newer ideas. It is always so much fun to have the kids take off in their own creative direction once they have the basics down! Now we are in a process of several weeks of creating mosaics…so that will b included in the next newsletter, b’h!
I’m happy
to say that the NEW High school girls class is underway on Sundays
from 7:30- 9 p.m.! They started out having some fun with fimo and are now
working on a mosaic project .
You can
check out more pictures HERE.
During
the Adult classes we have many new students who are trying out the art
of mosaics and have already started on their first mosaic projects.
Masha
completed her mosaic tissue box and Gita & Yossi completed their arch
around their outdoor washing sink- fabulous! Anita is making rapid progress on
her stained glass window project and we are all excited to see Rachel
completing her first sheep.
Chaggit just needs to grout her amazing washing cup to complete it!
B”h NEXT week on Wed. evening Oct. 23rd
Some of
you might remember the flowing water-like mosaic (not a great photo, sorry) I made for a project for Barzilai
hospital in Ashkelon. Many artists got together and contributed art for the
women’s ward at the hospital which was completely lacking. I was not able to
attend the opening this past week but hope to make it there soon !
On
another creative note… I was thinking of doing something with my etrog and
meant to post this earlier…as by now your etrog is kinda old. Anyway, I love
the idea of the etrog gong from a mitzvah to a mitzvah ad so I created my own “Essence
of Etrog” , to b used as b’samim each week at Havdalah. I basically grated
the peel of the etrog and let is seep in olive oil ( I would probably use
almond oil next time ). After a couple of weeks I finally strained the peel out
of the olive oil and VIOLA! To enhance the scent I added a couple of drops of organic
lemongrass essential oil .
That’s
all for now, thanks for reading and am always happy to hear your comments J
